As the opening track to Beautiful Imperfection, "Why Can't We" is the thesis statement for Aṣa's new era. It kicks off with bright, triumphant horns, but the lyrics immediately drop us into a spiral of relationship anxiety. It perfectly captures the common human habit of self-sabotaging a good day before it even really starts. But instead of letting the anxiety win, the track uses blunt advice from a friend to pull itself out of the mud, eventually turning into a massive, upbeat jam session about just letting go and living.
