Bukola Elemide, known professionally as Aṣa (pronounced "Aasha," meaning "little hawk" in Yoruba), is a highly acclaimed French-Nigerian singer, songwriter, and recording artist. Born in Paris in 1982 to Nigerian parents, she relocated to Lagos at the age of two, where she was heavily influenced by her father's diverse record collection featuring legends like Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, and Aretha Franklin. Aṣa's music is a unique fusion of soul, pop, folk, reggae, jazz, and funk, often delivered in both English and Yoruba.
